In our office, Dr. Davantzis uses Simplant technologies for achieving treatment success for a variety of implant problems. Bone density or inadequate bone structure issues no longer present problems as they had in the past, for some patients.

Patients who have been told they were not candidates for implants discover, in some cases, that implants are indeed possible... with specialized accurate placement. In other treatment plans, specialized implant systems can be devised that incorporate the best advantages of existing bone structures that are used to create a variety of methods for replacing teeth.

The SimPlant System

The SimPlant system, a line of implant dentistry tools used at Northern Plaza Cental Care, is centered on computer software that creates 2-D and 3-D images of the jaw. The software shows us the ideal positioning for a patient’s dental implants by factoring in the best possible configuration for appearance and function. The SimPlant system then uses that precise imagery to fashion custom-made surgical drill guides to ensure that the dental implants are placed in the best possible position.

Utilizing Simplant, dental clinicians can visualize a patient's anatomy and plan and place implants with a high level of confidence and accuracy.

We can place implants virtually on a trial basis,  This allows us to review many options and develop an ideal surgical plan that fully supports the prosthetic plan we developed. We can eliminate most of the unknowns, which facilitates both patient consultation and the educational process, since the treatment decisions are made preoperatively.

Through the use of the software SimPlant Planner, the dentists and staff can review the ideal prosthetic plan for a denture, bridge or other dental restoration as shown on a 3-D computed tomography scan, which also contains the anatomic information in an interactive setting.

Once the CT scan is developed and the plan formulated, a drill guide is constructed that allows the surgeons to precisely place the implants in the patient's mouth. The surgery is completed with better safety and predictability.

Conventional X-rays are commonly used to develop treatment plans for dental implants and in many instances they are adequate for determining both the height and width of bone available, but there are limitations to this approach since conventional X-rays are not as accurate as CT Scans.

This type of program is helpful to both the patient and the surgeon in developing a treatment plan designed to meet the restorative goals of the dentist and the expectations of the patient.
